Translating what the user says into what they mean
The users had been asking for the option to export more columns on the excel files for years, but they were still unhappy. I was sent to identify the real problem ad to create a solution (2 days to research, 1 to plan and 1 to present) which I was able to identify the real problem and provide a solution that users loved. What they users actually wanted was some key data, once I identified the data they were looking for I simply recommended we display it on their landing screen and remove the need to export to excel all together.
